Relief for Pet Skin Problems, Allergy Testing & Treatment

allergy and dermatology

Pets can suffer from a wide variety of skin and coat problems, from flea bites to diseases. Peninsula Center Pet Hospital provides dermatological care and testing for your dogs and cats.

Symptoms of a Pet Skin Problem

Some obvious symptoms of a developing dermatological problem may include excessive scratching, licking, or biting the skin. You may notice a rash, redness, welts, or even loss of the hair coat, and your pet may become lethargic or irritable.

Skin conditions and diseases are often a source of discomfort for pets. Examination by a veterinarian is the most compassionate approach to treating dermatological concerns in your animal companions.

Treatment for Skin Disorders

Our primary concern is the comfort of your pet. Treatments may include topical creams and ointments, systemic medicines such as antihistamines, antibiotics, medicated baths, and more. Often, relief is the result of a combination of treatments and lifestyle changes. We work closely with you until your pet is restored to comfort and good health.

Dr. Peggy Herrera has been treating our family for the last 25 years. By our family, we mean exactly that; our cats and dogs are members of our family. Dr. Herrera has seen us through the glorious puppy and kitten years, the usual bumps and scrapes of mid-life, and the difficult, heartrending decisions at the end of our beloved pets lives. We are so grateful to Dr. Herrera for all the excellent care and guidance she has given us over the last 25 years and will continue to trust her judgment long into the future. Thank you. -Regina and Brian Kelberg
